Palmer SDA E-News

Three weeks after our parking lot was freshly sealed and striped, I pulled into the church and noticed something unexpected —a man sitting in a lawn chair in front of a single parked car. It made more sense after I saw the little girl on a bike, riding slow, wobbly loops in wide circles around the parking lot.
After greeting the man, I learned that he is a neighbor of the church and that the girl on the bike was his daughter. That afternoon, on our parking lot, was the first time she rode a bicycle without training wheels. He explained that their road was too busy, and the other location they had tried was too bumpy. He noticed that our parking lot was a smooth and safe place for his daughter to advance her skills. This neighbor associates our church with the happy moments when his daughter achieves a breakthrough in her development.
I watched from my office window as the girl and her father shared in the joy of her training wheel-free laps. I wasn’t just looking at a newly surfaced parking lot. I was witnessing a special moment, a safe place for growth.
Church family, our neighbors notice what happens here. They are seeking a smooth, safe, and inviting place to grow. And some are finding that in our church!
Many of you gave generously to make this parking lot possible. I want you to know: it’s more than expensive tar and paint. It’s ministry. It’s an invitation. It provides us all a smooth and safe place to grow! These ministry foundations are being built through our fair booth, children’s ministries, greeters, church cleaning, audio-visual volunteers, and in many unseen ways within our church. Thank you all for creating these spaces.
