Native Christmas

How we are perfectly positioned to meet the needs of a native community...

Palmer SDA E-News

Native Christmas

On Saturday, December 20, from 3:00–7:00 p.m. in the school gym, our church will host 75–100 Alaskan brothers and sisters who remain displaced months after the northern Alaska typhoon. Many are spread across hotels and temporary facilities in Anchorage and beyond, separated from community, culture, and familiar language.

We can’t fix every challenge they face, but we can create a warm, safe place for them to gather, share a meal, reconnect, and find encouragement. This is a meaningful opportunity to bless people who urgently need it, and we need our whole church family to make it happen.

How You Can Help

Pray
Lift these families and this ministry effort before God.

Volunteer
We need a large team to prepare food, host, serve, and welcome our guests. Your presence will make a real difference.

Donate Food
We are seeking:

  • Salmon fillets

  • Moose roasts or steaks

  • Berries
These are staple foods they currently cannot access or cook where they’re staying.

Give (If You Wish)
Financial gifts are appreciated, but your involvement is what will bless them most.

Join Us in Bringing Joy This Christmas Season

Stop by our table in the church foyer each Sabbath to learn more. You’re also invited to our next planning meeting on Wednesday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m.

Thank you for helping us surround these Alaskan families with care and community.

Serving our Community

In response to Typhoon Halong relief efforts, the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management has asked our Alaska Conference Adventist Community Services department to manage its warehouse in Anchorage. This week, a group from the Palmer Church volunteered in the warehouse. They were able to ready 80 pallets of material to ship to the villages. It was a full day of work sorting and stacking. There is so much more that can be done to support this community service effort. Contact Tobin Dodge if you are interested in helping out. ‭(907) 371-7000‬
