Jesus, Money, and Mission

A busy week in our church.

Pastors/Teachers Meetings

Alaska Conference teachers and pastors had meetings this Monday through Wednesday. Two things were strongly communicated that impact the church.

  1. It’s about Jesus. Pastor Elizabeth Talbot was the main speaker. Her presentations were about the gospel. Here, presentations and our conference administration stressed the necessity of keeping Jesus at the center of our ministry.

  2. There is a plan. Our conference is in the final stages of developing a mission, vision, and strategic plan to guide our ministry. It will be shared in detail very soon.

We are going somewhere and we’re going there with Jesus!

Business Meeting and Budget

We have a business meeting at 4pm on Sunday, February 1. There is one item on the agenda, the 2026 church budget. We have a recommended budget to consider. Come to be informed and to share your perspective.

AK Conference Prayer Meetings
UPWARD 2026 Continues! The daily 6 a.m. prayer room remains open for those who wish to gather in prayer, with a dedicated Monday 6 a.m. conference prayer time each week. Beginning in 2026, a weekly devotional from the Book of John will be released every Monday by email, on the conference website, and on Facebook. Churches and groups are encouraged to continue gathering for prayer as we seek God’s guidance.

Ministry Team Meetings

You are invited to the upcoming ministry team meetings on February 1:

New Women’s Group

A new women’s home group has started up this January, and all women of the church are invited to be part of it. The group began on Monday, January 19, meeting from 6:00–7:30 PM at 5350 East Aspen Street in Wasilla. The plan is to start by using resources from The Bible Project, with flexibility to adjust as the group grows and discerns its direction together. This will be a welcoming space for women to gather, study Scripture, and build meaningful community. If you’d like more information or want to connect before attending, feel free to reach out to Susie at (907) 500-2500‬; [email protected]

Walking Group

After a short holiday break, the walking group is starting back up. They meet in the AGA gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:00 to walk indoors. Come enjoy the exercise and fellowship.

Outreach Testimony

The first My House outreach meal launched with laughter, full plates, and the kind of connection you can’t manufacture.

The lunch quickly earned the nickname “the bomb”, which, in today’s language, means absolutely fantastic. Tater-tot casserole, green beans, corn, and homemade sweet cinnamon rolls filled the table with the kind of comfort food that feels like home. Around twenty guests stopped in to eat, but it didn’t feel like a crowd. It felt like family.

People gathered around the table and stayed there.

Conversations flowed easily, joking about height comparisons, sharing favorite foods, and trading stories about meals their parents used to make. One young man described a favorite dish his mother cooks. Others chimed in with their own memories. Between bites came the soundtrack of appreciation: “Ooo,” “Oh wow,” “That’s so good.”

As guests left, one young girl paused to open the door for someone and said warmly, “Have a nice day, lovely lady.” A small gesture, but it captured the heart of the afternoon, simple kindness, real connection, and the sense that strangers were becoming friends.

That’s what My House is about.
Not just food on a plate, but people around a table.

And this was only the first meal.

We are welcoming volunteers who feel called to cook, visit or donate financially to the ministry! Contact Carol Kolidako, our My House liaison, to get involved. [email protected]; 907-232- 2453
