God's plans for our growth in 2025 are too good for us to quit.

Palmer SDA E-News

Millions of resolutions will be made next week; 9% will be kept. The second Friday of January has earned the name Quitters Day, as Friday is the most common day to quit on a resolution and the quitting happens quick. By the end of the first week of January, 23% of us will have quit our resolution. By the end of the month, the quitter group will include 43% of us, and by the end of the year, 91% of us will have joined the crowd. Enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare. (these discouraging statistics come from https://www.driveresearch.com/market-research-company-blog/new-years-resolutions-statistics/)
The statistics are against us, but our God is for us. He has plans for positive change in 2025, in each of us and our church! Search for tips about how to complete your goals and you will find many lists that can help you beat the odds. Here are a few tips you might not find on those lists…
Pray about your resolutions. Don’t just decide to do something. Let God inspire your goal. Let it be his plan, not yours. He who begins a good work in you will complete it!
Commit your goal to God. Why rely on willpower when you could depend on God’s power? Since it is his growth plan, you can trust him to give you the energy and endurance you need.
Aim high. The standard advice is to start small. There is wisdom in that. But what if you let God determine the scale of your goal? He may have you take baby steps, but they will lead you down a path to God-sized growth.
Make an effort to engage with the church. We have BIG plans for the year. They won’t be as big without you. In a faith community, we can help each other grow with God in 2025.

Garrick and Stephanie Herr are hosting a Life Group for juniors-age kids (ages 9-13) on the 2nd and 4th Sabbaths of the month at 4 pm (start time will adjust with sunset times). Come for worship, sledding, games, and potluck-style finger food. Families and friends are welcome to stay and make the time richer or drop off kids. If you are bringing three or more kids, please have an adult connected with them stay. Kids will grow spiritually and as leaders as they lead out and participate in group worships. Contact Stephanie at 907-928-6682 for more info. This will be awesome!
Other Life Groups…
If you would like to be like the Herr’s and start your own Life Group, that would be fantastic. Contact Pastor Ryan before January 12!

Join us for our weekly prayer meeting on Wednesdays from 6-7 pm starting January 8!
Rehoming a Dog
Cherie Cowin is rehoming her 7-month-old female Staffordshire-Lab. She would fit best in a home where she is the only dog. She understands basic commands and loves to retrieve. She is already 50lbs and will grow to be a large dog. She will be getting training in obedience school in January. Contact Cherie at (907) 654-5082 if you know of a good fit for this pup.
